The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against all cancers affecting women through raising money for scientific research, providing access to quality cancer healthcare for underserved women, and unifying people for a common cause.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was officially founded on December 3, 2007, from the vision of the organization’s namesake, Kay Yow. Kay Yow was the former NC State University head women’s basketball coach and had her own 22yr battle with cancer. She was first diagnosed in 1987 before succumbing to the disease on January 24, 2009. Before she passed away, she left us a lasting legacy….the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
Most people do not realize we raise money in the fight against ALL cancers affecting women, not just breast cancer. They also don’t usually know that we have anational grassroots movement called Play4Kay, which uses sports to impact the fight against cancer.
We want to be the premiere organization in the cancer space leading the way in health equity, particularly for underserved populations.
One of our biggest signature events, our National Golf Event, is right around the corner. It will be held at Pinehurst on August 21st and 22nd . We are raffling off a21ft boat. The raffle is on July 29th. Tickets are $100 each and there will be maximum of 1,000 tickets sold. The retail value of the boat is $55,000.
I enjoy taking care of people. I want to make sure they are getting everything they need.
We chose Towerview because we needed a space we could call home that would enable us to tell our story to survivors, sponsors, and partners. The brand newbuilding, convenience to the airport, and people at Towerview made this a no-brainer.
